A MN-to-Boston transplant whose heart still beats with pride for the State of 10,000 Lakes,Leedz Edutainment newcomer Sam Scott has teamed up with The DJBooth for the release of his brand new album Stuck Dreaming. The project includes previously-released selections “We Get Around,” “Shake The Ground,” and title-track “Stuck Dreaming.” Joining Scott on Stuck Dreaming are Al-J of Boom Vox, Cam Meekins, Mike Dreams, Mod Sun, Rite Hook, Stu Catand XV.
The truth is that all dreams, even the best ones (you know, like that one where Rosa Acosta challenges you to strip poker), eventually come to an end. Although Sam Scott can clearly relate, thankfully he has far nobler dreams than I do on video to title track Stuck Dreaming. Making its world premiere on The DJBooth, the D. Gomez directed flick is scored with a soundtrack from producer Matty Trump, who crafts an ethereal but still grounded beat, laying interweaving guitar lines around pacing percussion. Thanks to the pen and vocals of Scott the track is transformed into something more than just a dreamscape as the Boston artist flips between the joy of his dreams and the cold truth of his reality. Those finding themselves eager to see what other dreams may come can keep it locked to The DJBooth for the Scott’s Leedz Edutainment album Stuck Dreaming, due out July 23. -DJBooth

Contrary to the stereotypes, Minnesota isn’t a frozen wasteland peppered with igloos, where blistering winds will flay any inch of exposed skin from your bones if you dare to step outside. That’s only six months out of the year. The rest of the time, it’s pretty damn nice—and, as fans of the Minneapolis underground scene will tell you, the local music is always hot. A MN-to-Boston transplant whose heart still beats with pride for the State of 10,000 Lakes, Booth newcomer Sam Scott teams up with two fellow Twin Cities buzzmakers on album single We Get Around. Making its world premiere in the Booth, this local anthem finds Tha Don Benedetto serving up a whirring, synth/percussion beat as the singer pays witty lyrical tribute to his motherland. Bloomington’s Mod Sun expresses his own hometown pride on the front, and perennial reader fave Mike Dreams takes over on the back, showcasing some of his most impressive mic work to date in a show-stealing closing 16. Has this cut left you itching to book a vacation to the sunny (for the moment) North Star State? If so, you can expect plenty more T.C.-repping bangers on Scott’s Stuck Dreaming LP, scheduled for release July 9. (via DJBooth)

Great Review by Tim Larew of Freshheir.com
It was about a week ago the first time I sat down to listen to Boom Vox’s debut album Shoot The Moon. At that point, I had heard of the Boston-based hip-hop duo, but I wasn’t too familiar with the music. I put on my headphones, pressed play, and within ten seconds of the opening song, I was hooked. I wasn’t quite sure what exactly I was listening to, but I was hooked. Eighteen songs later, it was clear to me that Sam Scott and Al-J, who came together to form Boom Vox just six months ago under the Leedz Edutainment label, had created one of the most unique, experimental hip-hop albums of the year. Shoot The Moon can’t be simply defined as a hip-hop album because it’s more than that. With this project, Boom Vox combined elements of rap, R&B, pop, techno, and even some rock and dubstep, and they managed to blend it all seamlessly, all the while over top-notch production from Matty Trump and Rob Whitaker and including features from the likes of Cam Meekins, Spose, Rite Hook, Stu Cat, Mickey Factz and Dre Robinson. The result is an album with an incredible variety of sounds and one that truly keeps listeners on their toes from start to finish. The combination of Sam Scott’s smooth vocals and Al-J’s old school, calculated delivery in his rhymes makes for a such fresh change of pace, and if the duo’s debut album is any indiction of what’s to come in the future, Boom Vox will certainly be far from a hidden gem very soon. While Shoot The Moon is naturally far from flawless, it’s an extremely complete album from top to bottom, and it serves as an ideal introduction to two extraordinary talents coming together as one.
