The Rebel Babel Ensemble, led by L.U.C. – a composer, producer and winner of many awards for projects combining scratches with classical and film music, arranged sampled songs by DJ Premier for a jazz big band. DJ Eprom, IDA World Champion in the Show, Technical and Show Class categories, as well as DJShop Workshop Battle and Skrecz.com Battle in the Pro category is also engaged in the project. In total, almost 100 musicians from Europe and the USA took part in the project. Recordings were made in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, New Orleans, Connecticut, Gdansk (PL), Warsaw (PL),Sopot (PL) and Wrocław (PL). The work on the project lasted over a year!
“Our orchestra is always trying to surprise positively. Sometimes it does so by performing a concert with car horns for those who are tired of thier morning travel to work, sometimes by playing for sick kids in hospice and
sometimes … by spending almost 500 days on preparing a birthday present for our idol. I and many of my friends including DJ Eprom were raised on DJ Premier’s music. What’s more, we really appreciate that he still commemorates other artists, making sure that their work is not forgotten. We have decided to repay him karmically. It is a delayed gift for his 50th birthday!” – says L.U.C., a co-founder of the orchestra, composer, producer and winner of many cultural awards, among others for projects combining scratches with classical and film music (39/89 Understanding Poland). “This is our private tribute to the work of the legendary man who brought up whole generations” – he adds.
