South Boston native Smokeythakid and Tampa Florida home towner San Waldo connect to form the emo rap duo SMOKEY AND WALDO. Now residing in Cape Cod, both artists draw from a wide range of inspiration including Post Malone, JuiceWRLD, Three Days Grace, Danny Brown, Lil Peep, System of a Down, and Pink Floyd. “We make music based off all the things and pain we’ve been through in life and songs that people can really relate to and feel in their soul” says Smokey And Waldo. After releasing numerous solo projects, EPs, and singles, the group is ready to show a new side of creativity and make a big impact on the music industry.
Their latest video is for their debut single Hell Of A Year directed by Sando Films. The track was originally recorded with one take in their friends bathroom then engineered by Waldo. The visuals are shot at Skull Island Mini Golf in Cape Cod which is sentimental and signifies a happier time for the group. “We were really trying to get a nostalgic feel and take it back to the simplicity of childhood when we were carefree before the consequences of the world came down on us. We also wanted to do something really different then your ordinary video and really make it stand out and to make people smile and bring people out of the darkness that’s in the world” says Smokey And Waldo.
