D.O.S. (Death Over Simplicity) is a lyricist born and raised in Worcester, MA. In 2023 DOS joined Genosha, a collective including frequent collaborator Ghost of the Machine and fellow MA based emcee Weapon ESP. His latest EP From the Mind Springs a Painting showcases D.O.S.’s thoughts ranging from braggadocious rhyme skills to a POV story about the late jazz musician Lee Morgan. The title is also a statement originally thought of to precede the title of the Saul Williams “Said the Shotgun to the Head“. The lead video Heart Container follows the lyrics of the record, animating the various topics and references discussed including friendship, betrayal, rejection, the film Get Out and the Luv(sic) series by Nujabes & Shing02. “As someone who grew up in the 90s playing Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, I am a huge fan of 16 bit style that was prominent in the games released for these consoles (ex Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, Contra III etc)” says D.O.S.
