Newport, RI’s own Freddie Black has been rocking the microphone on the New England Underground Hip Hop scene for 20 strong years. After releasing numerous projects and working with skillful producers Tone Spliff, Spliftout, and more, he eventually caught the attention of Gem Crates and DJ Premier and was featured on Premo’s Sirius XM Satellite radio show Live From Headqcourterz. Since then Freddie has been consistently releasing impressive tracks staying true to the culture and gaining fans world wide.
The latest video Luxury Poems reunites Freddie with LA’s Tone Spliff to preserve the classic boom bap sound we all love. “The inspiration behind the song is just writing some jewels, real music that resonates with real people. We just found some pretty cool spots locally with just me and the camera guy. As u can see by the mask, this was the beginning of the whole corona thing when we filmed it” says Freddie. The video is directed by Base Matic of 20/20 Sound who also is a Rhode Island native. Check out the video on youtube now. “Luxury Poems” is also available on your preferred digital streaming provider
